The finish to the 2026 golfing year was in Fife for the Autumn Meeting. This was a 3 day tour with matches against the Seniors at GHC Elie, Lundin GC and Lundin Ladies GC – a 9 hole course. The last match was followed by lunch at The new Club in St Andrews and then a JBGS putting competition on The Himalayas at St Andrews Ladies Putting Club. Day 1 – Tuesday 22nd September
The tour started on Tuesday with a match against the Seniors at Golf Club House Elie. This event began with at 12 noon, for drinks on the patio followed by lunch. There was a good turn out with 16 a-side. and after an excellent lunch everyone ventured out in brilliant sunshine and virtually no wind for the match against the club. In such fine weather – weren’t we lucky, the course did not disappoint.

The matches were hard fought but very much enjoyed as was the conviviality and hospitality on the day. Tea and scones were served after the games and the results were announced – a win by Golf House Club by 5 games to 3 much to the Captain’s relief.

Day 2 – Wednesday 23rd September
Despite heavy overnight rain with thunderstorms on arrival at Lundin GC the course was found to be very playable and fast running, and all the members were complimentary in their opinion of a tough but fair challenge.

Following the completion of the round, the JBGS members reconvened in their fours to the clubhouse to enjoy dinner together. Again, the matches were 16 a-side.

The match resulted in an honourable 4 all draw. No slip ups yet Mr Captain!

Day 3 – Thursday 24 September
Part 1 – For the final day of the Fife Tour, we were back to Lundin Links but this time to play golf with the ladies at the ladies’ golf club. As there were 14 JBGS players with 18 Lundin ladies very keen to join in the fun, it was decided that the format of the day should be a mixed Texas Scramble and with a shot-gun start.
After coffee and bacon rolls, the 8 teams ventured out.

The course itself was delightful, in very good condition and everyone agreed that it was great fun and that they had very much enjoyed it. The winning team was Steve Race, Angela Grant, Fiona Love and Tessa McAndrew with 22 points (for the 9 holes) on a countback from Mark Horner, Frances McIntosh, Paul Melding and Janet Peddie.

Part 2 – Lunch at The new Club in St Andrews
This was a splendid occasion – enjoying a delicious lunch with a view over the 18th fairway of The Old Course in St Andrews.

Part 3 – Putting on The Himalayas at St Andrews ladies Putting Club

Joined by several local JBGS members there were 18 of us putting up and down the Himalayas for the final event of 2026. The winner of this prestigious competition, with a magnificent score of 36 putts for the 18 holes, was Mark Horner, although the validity of this was questioned as gimmies (which according to the Club rules are unlawful), had been given.

Until next year, play well, stay safe and it’s goodbye now until next year, when we announce in January the exciting programme for the 2027 JBGS golfing year.
