For the last events of 2022 JBGS members visited the Northumbrian Coast to play at Goswick, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh golf courses. The weather was excellent, the views were stunning under sunny skies and the golf was competitive, fun and very enjoyable. Click here to see the Captain’s full report.
Day 1 – Meeting up for a round at Goswick GC. This was the society Stableford day.

But first we need to find our swing – so let’s have a look at those who know best how to play this game and see how it’s done.

Then choose the one that works best for you and off you go. Then what?
You have to work out what to do when you get to the green. Tricky isn’t it? Did they go in?

Well, that’s how it’s done – no problem really, although there may be a few hazards on the way not to mention a bit of wind to contend with on the day.

Ah, here come the ladies.

They’ll know how to do it.

And the winner is Paul J – last man in, of course, and pipping all the field. Very well done Paul.
Day 2 – Dunstanburgh Golf Course for a round of 4 ball better ball.

And, starting with a 2 ball, the teams are:

So, who is your money on? Let’s have a look at what’s happening on the course.

It all looks good – no clues there. But who is the lone golfer? And yet more stunning scenery.

Any the wiser? But what a fantastic day it was, and no wind, so no excuses to hand today!
And then everyone met for dinner afterwards in Bamburgh.

Have you worked out who the winner was yet?

What a great day we all had, great weather, good golf and wonderful friendship together. Now it’s off to see what the ghost is up to tomorrow.
Day 3 – Bamburgh Castle and this was the team golf day. 2 scores to count on the par 4s and 5s and very meanly all 4 scores to count on the Par 3s. There were 6 of them – all very difficult. It’s a hilly course – giving us all a good workout, quite quirky but with stunning views it was great fun to play.

The winners were KJ, Len, Richard and Steve J. Note for next time – the ‘ghost’ player – filling in to make a 4th player in one of the teams never showed up!
Then it was time to say goodbye. We all got together before heading off home. What a wonderful year of golf the JBGS has enjoyed in 2022 – onwards and upwards to 2023. Looking forward to seeing you all. Take care.

A really superb tour, on great courses, very well organised.
